Dr. Robert Ostheim

Dr. Robert Ostheim was born in Okinawa, Japan but has resided in Orlando since 1970. He grew up in Casselberry and graduated from Lake Howell High School. Dr. Ostheim attended the University of South Florida, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree with Emphasis in Chemistry. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology from the National College of Chiropractic, in Lombard, Illinois, before graduating in 1999 with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

As a youth, Dr. Ostheim loved playing sports including competitive soccer and tennis. He played both sports for over 10 years and suffered multiple repetitive injuries. He sought care with a variety of physicians over time due to neck and shoulder complaints. While still in high school, he went to an orthopedic specialist who recommended him to stop playing tennis and start taking pain medication to “see if the pain will go away”. Being frustrated with the traditional medical model and not finding relief, he was referred to a chiropractor by a fellow tennis player who swore by it. After going through a thorough consultation, detailed examination along with x-rays, the chiropractor said he was going to recommend a program of care to not only reduce pain symptoms but to help “fix the problem” so that it doesn’t reoccur.

Dr. Ostheim’s chiropractor made a lasting impression on how healthcare focuses on symptoms; if you have a symptom then take a pill for it. Chiropractic works because it identifies the true underlying cause of the problem. In a sense, if your engine light comes on in your vehicle, you don’t just get a piece of tape and cover the light sensor. Your vehicle most-likely will have a bigger problem in the near future. When you experience pain, your body is saying there’s a problem that needs to be fixed and taking a pill typically stops the flashing lights in your body but does not fix your true underlying problem. Dr. Ostheim’s personal experience changed his outlook about his health. Because of this, he knew that this was the profession for him.

Dr. Ostheim has been practicing in Central Florida for 20+ years. He is an active member of the Florida Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association and Central Florida Chiropractic Society. He has advanced training in Whiplash Traumatology, along with Physical Impairment Ratings and is certified to treat worker’s compensation injuries. Dr. Ostheim enjoys spending time in the community doing health talks, health fairs and spinal screenings.

Dr. Ostheim’s hobbies include cycling, golfing, camping, hiking and traveling, along with spending quality time with his wife, Catherine.
