We get this question a lot: are x-rays on the first visit really necessary?

You do not need x-rays if you are in good general health and have a mild to moderate problem or if you are currently under the care of a licensed chiropractor. Otherwise, x-rays are needed to rule out serious problems such as: tumors, fractures, infections, and arthritis. Also, chiropractors are unique in that they use x-rays to evaluate bio mechanical distortions in your spine called subluxations. Subluxations are misalignments in your spine and seeing them on the x-ray helps the doctor determine the level and direction of the chiropractic adjustment needed to address your problem.
